δέκατος, der Zehnte, von Hom. an überall. Bei Homer als bestimmte Zahlangabe z. B. Iliad. 2, 329 Odyss. 10, 29; Odyss. 8, 404. 418 ἐς δεκάτους περιτελλομένους ἐνιαυτούς, statt ἐς δέκατον ἐνιαυτόν, Homerisch plural. für den singular., oder statt ἐς δέκα ἐνιαυτούς, die Ordinalzahl statt der Cardinalzahl, was eine nicht minder Homerische Figur sein würde; auf seden Fall ist Bentley's Conjectur δέκα τούς müssig. – Vgl.

δῖος, fem. δῑα, δία und δίη, neutr. δῖον, himmlisch, Adjectiv zu Ζεύς (Δίς) genit. Διός Stamm Δι-Wurzel ΔιF-, von welcher ΔίFς. genit. ΔιFός und mit Ausstoßung des Digamma Διός, Adjectiv δίΕιος, δίιος, δῖος, zusammengezogen wie Χῖος aus Χίιος, Etymol. m. p. 278, 13 Choerobosc. in Cram. An. Ox. 2 p. 191, 29 Orion. p. 49, 27. 50, 21 Epimer. Hom. in Cram. An. Ox. 1 p. 107, 17. 109, 8. 123, 20. 3, 84 Iliad. 7, 138, häufiger δῖε und δίῳ, noch häufiger δὶον, am häufigsten δῐος. Der singular. femin lautet δῖα (häufig), δίης (Iliad. 16, 565), δίῃ ( Iliad. 11, 588. 698. 17, 40), δῖαν (häufig), vocat, δῖα ( Iliad. 6, 595. 10, 290). Das kurze α von δῖα und δῖαν ist unregelmäßig, dgl. Vgl. über δῖα Herodian Scholl. Iliad. 6, 160 Dichron. p. 299, 22 Dracon. p. 79, 14. Nach Scholl. Iliad. 2, 152 ist δῖαν statt δίαν Dorisch, vgl. Ahrens Dial. Dor. p. 177 not. 10 (» Nihil moramur commentum grammatici in Scholl. Il. β, 152 τὸ δὲ δῖαν Δωρικῶς συνέστειλεν.«) Homer gebraucht δῖος von Gottheiten, von Menschen, von Pferden, von Meer, Erde, Luft, von Flüssen, Ländern, Städten: Odyss. B. Iliad. 17, 40 Φρόντιδι δίῃ, und in der Formel δῖα γυναικῶν: Iliad. 10, 290 wird Athene δῖα ϑεά angeredet; in der Formel δῖα ϑεάων: Iliad. 14, 184 Here; 18, 205 Athene; 5, 381 Dione; 18, 388 Charis, Hephästos Gattinn; 19, 6 Thetis; Odyss. 5, 116 Kalypso; 12, 155 Kirke; 4, 382 Eidothea; Iliad. Iliad. 6, 180, wo von der Chimära gesagt wird ἡ δ' ἄρ' ἔην ϑεῖον γένος, οὐδ' ἀνϑρώπων. Ein Herold könnte deshalb δῐος heißen, weil die Herolde bei Homer Διὸς ἄγγελοι ἠδὲ καὶ ἀνδρῶν sind, Iliad. 1, 334. Eumäus, der δῖος ὑφορβός, ist ein Königssohn, Odyss. 15. 413. Man bedenke z. Lex. Said. erklärt δῖος = ὁ ἔνδοξος; Hesych. Διός von Wurzel ΔιF, ron der auch δίαλος, δέελος, δῆλος, composit. Aristonic. vergleicht (abgedruckt s. v. Iliad. Hinc Aiax lovem implorans precatur (Ρ, 646) ποίησον αἴϑρην. 13, 493 Nichts. Ueber die Bedeutung des οὐρανός Iliad. 16, 364 s. s. v. Scholl. Herodian. A und B L. Aristarch las getrennt δὶ' Ἄντεια, Scholl. Aristonic. Herodian vergleicht Odyss. Ἀκαίρως, wie Iliad. 6, 160, schien dem Aristarch δῖος auch Iliad. 3, 852 und 7, 75 gebraucht zu sein. An letzterer Stelle nennt Hector sich selbst δῖον, δεῠρ' ἴτω ἐκ πάντων πρόμος ἔμμεναι Ἕκτορι δίῳ; an ersterer Stelle nennt Menelaos seinen Feind Paris δῖον Ἀλέξανδρον. Diesen Vers, Iliad. 3, 352, erklärte Aristarch für unächt, Scholl. Aristonic. Dagegen Iliad. 7, 75 hielt Aristarch für ächt, Scholl. Aristonic. Man vgl. Scholl. Aristonic. vs. 56. Aber für ächt hielt Aristarch Iliad. 15, 15 und 15, 161; an letzterer Stelle sagt Zeus ἅλα δῖαν, Scholl. Aristonic. Aristonic. Was aber Odyss. 15, 25, in derselben Rede, in welcher Hektor δῖος heißt, den Herakles ϑεῖος nennen, ἐμὲ δ' οὐδ' ὧς ϑυμὸν ἀνίει ἀζηχὴς ὀδύνη Ἡρακλῆος ϑείοιο. 8 und Alcest. 5 δίου πυρός, Blitzstrahl des Zeus. Iliad. 24, 532 χϑόνα δῖαν), Hipp. min. 371 c (Hom. Iliad. Das uncontrahirte δίιος scheint Plat. Phaedr. – Bei Aristophan. Equit. 1271 Πυϑῶνι ἐν δίᾳ, wohl Anspielung auf Pindar, s. oben, vgl. Scholl. Aristoph. Δῖα ϑεάων und Tzetz. Exeges. p. 87, 4, διοτάτη als Erklärung von δῖα ϑεάων und δῖα γυναικῶν.

O. C. 1355; Eur. Suppl. 473 e; dah. man es auch wohl, ohne ein solches voranstehendes τοιοῦτος, für οἷος gesetzt erklärt, in Verbindungen wie ἕως περ ἂν ᾖς, ὃς εἶ, Phaedr. 243 e, vgl. Theaet. Phil. Conv. Hier. 6, 12, was aber das betrifft, was du beneidest, daß wir nämlich – können, so verhält sich auch dies nicht so, vgl. An. 5, 5, 20; auch ἅ steht so, Hell. 2, 3, 45 An. 5, 5, 22. Phil. 1281, vgl. 659; u. auffallender, φόβον τῆς ἐμῆς εἰςόδου, ὃν μήτ' ὀκνεῖτε, O. C. 735, wo man etwa aus ἐμῆς ἐμοῦ herausnehmen u. darauf ὅν beziehen kann. Phil. Or. 591 ff. Rep. II, 373 b. Rep. V, 466 a, vgl. Gorg. 492 b; Isocr. ὃς ἔλϑοι, Od. 2, 54, vgl. 114. 20, 342 H. h. Cer. 151; seltener in Prosa, wie Plat. Conv. 3, 235 Od. 1, 70. 161. 22, 445; Her. 1, 47, im Orakel; vgl. αὐτός I) 2) b). Prom. 315, wo man ὀργάς auch noch auf ἄφες beziehen kann, als auch so, daß man das Substantivum im nom. wiederholen muß, οὓς γὰρ νῦν ἀκήκοας λόγους, εἶναι δόκει σοὶ μηδέπω 'ν προοιμίοις, 743, wo der ganze Relativsatz der Subjectsaccusativ zu dem von δόκει abhängigen acc. c. inf. ist; τῷδ' ὃν λέγεις τὸν Ἀρκάδα, Spt. 535; ὃν δ' ἐπιστείβεις τόπον, χϑονὸς καλεῖται τῆςδε χαλκόπους ὁδός, Soph. O. C. 56, d. i. An. 1, 9, 14, vgl. An. 3, 1, 6. Prom. 415, vgl. Ai. 351 Trach. Suppl. 12; περιέδραμε ὅμιλος, οἳ ἔφερον, Her. 8, 128; u. so bei Collectivnamen oft in Prosa, τὸ τῶν Ἀϑηναίων ναυτικόν, οἳ ὥρμο υν ἐν Μαλέᾳ, Thuc. Phaedr. VIII, 554 a, wie auch wir sagen: ein Mann, wie sie der große Haufen lobt; Dem. 18, 310 ἀνδρὶ καλῷ τε κἀγαϑῷ, ἐν οἷς οὐδαμοῦ σὺ φανήσει γεγονώς, einem braven Mann, u. zu denen hast du nie gehört. – Verschieden hiervon sind die Fälle, wo sich das Relativum im Genus auf das im Relativsatz stehende Nomen bezieht, τὴν ἄκρην, αἳ καλεῠνται κληΐδες τῆς Κύπρου, Her. 5, 108; Περσικὸν ξίφος, τὸν ἀκινάκην καλέουσι, 7, 54; ἡ πηγή, ὃν ἵμερον Ζεὺς ὠνόμασε, Plat. Phaedr. 255 c, u. Phaed. 2, 26. Prom. Thesm. Gorg. 457 e; ἐξ ὧν ἐγὼ ᾔσϑημαι, Phaed. 61 c (über ἀνϑ' ὧν u. An. 3, 2, 21; σὺν οἷς μάλιστα φιλεῖς, 1, 9, 25; u. mit der unter c) erwähnten Umstellung des Substantivs, ὧν οἱ ϑεοί σοι ἔδωκαν ἀγαϑῶν ἄξιος, 7, 7, 37. 26. – Sehr selten tritt die Attraction ein, wenn das Relativum in einem andern Casus, gen., dat. od. gar nom., stehen müßte, wohin man rechnet ὡς ὄφελες τιμῆς ἀπονήμενος, ἧςπερ ἄνασσες, δήμῳ ἔνι Τρώων ϑάνατον ἐπισπεῖν, Od. 24, 30, indem man erkl. Her. Thuc. 69 a, obwohl man hier auch ὅμοιον εἶναι leicht ergänzen kann. Anders sind die Stellen zu erklären, wo ein pass. mit dem acc. construirt werden kann, τιμῆς, ἧς τέ μ' ἔοικε τετιμῆσϑαι, Il. 23, 649; ἐν ᾧ προςετέτακτο, Thuc. 7, 70, denn man kann sagen τιμᾶσϑαι, προςτάττεσϑαί τι. – Aus Vrbdg mit c) ergeben sich folgende Redeweisen: ξὺν ᾧπερ εἶχον οἰκετῶν πιστῷ μόνῳ, d. i. Mem. 2, 7, 13.-. g) Modi beim Relativum. Phil. 1090, öfter (vgl. ὅς γε). Pers. 170, vgl. 1344; Thuc. 2, 62; ἣ ἂν τύχῃ γενομένη, Plat. Phaedr. ähnliche Wörter im Plural bezogen wird, weil eben die Mehrheit schon durch den conj. mit ἄν angedeutet ist; οὓς ἂν ἡμεῖς ἄνδρας λαβόντες ἡγεῖσϑαι κελεύωμεν, Xen. An. 3, 2, 20; s. auch ἄν II) a). – Dafür steht der bloße Conjunctiv, οἳ βίῃ εἰν ἀγορῇ σκολιὰς κρίνωσι ϑέμιστας, Il. 16, 387, u. in Vergleichungen, 13, 63. 17, 110; Aesch. An. 1, 9, 28, d. i. – Conj. u. opt. stehen in zwei entsprechenden Satzgliedern, Xen. Cyr. 2, 4, 10, δοκεῖ μοι, πάντας μὲν οὓς ἄν τις βούληται ἀγαϑοὺς συνεργοὺς ποιεῖσϑαι, allgemein, wen er nur immer will, οὓς δὲ δὴ τῶν εἰς τὸν πόλεμον ἔργων ποιήσασϑαί τις βούλοιτο συνεργούς, wie der inf. aor. zeigt, auf einen einzelnen Fall bezogen. 1, 126; u. in Prosa nicht selten, ἃ οὐδεὶς ἂν φήσειεν, Plat. Gorg. 473 e; Phaed. An. 3, 2, 23, vgl. Vgl. Conv. 204 b; κάρτα δόξας ἀμαϑέα εἶναι, ὅς –, eigtl. meinend, der sei sehr dumm, welcher, für ὅτι, er meinte, er sei sehr thöricht, weil er, Her. 1, 33; ϑαυμαστὸν ποιεῖς, ὃς ἡμῖν οὐδὲν δίδως, daß du od. weil du uns Nichts giebst, Xen. Mem. 2, 7, 13. – γ) auch eine Absicht wird so ausgedrückt, wie im Lat. durch qui, mit dem indic. fut. verbunden, ὅπλα κτῶνται, οἷς ἀμυνοῦνται τοὺς ἀδικοῦντας, mit denen sie abwehren werden, d. i. um damit abz u wehren, Xen. Mem. 2, 1, 14; od. mit dem conj. u. ἄν, wohin man rechnen kann κλητοὺς ὀτρύνομεν, οἵ κε ἔλϑωσ' ἐς κλισίην, Il. 9, 165, u. c. opt. nach einem tempus der Vergangenheit, ἄγγελον ἧκαν, ὃς ἀγγείλειε, Od. 15, 457; u. mit dem conj. ohne ἄν in Prosa, πρέσβεις ἄγουσα, οῖπερ τὰ σφέτερα φράζωσιν, Thuc. 7, 25; vgl. Plat. Men. 89 e. – δ) so merke man auch die Vrbdgn, wo ὃς ἄν c. conj. nicht auf ein bestimmt ausgesprochenes Subject geht u. dah. leichter wie ἐάν τις, falls Einer, wennman, übersetzt wird, βέλτερον ὃς φεύγων προφύγῃ κακὸν ἠὲ ἁλῴη, Il. 14, 81, besser ist es, wenn man, eigtl. besser ist dem, der da immer; νεμεσσῶμαί γε μὲν οὐδὲν κλαίειν ὅς κε ϑάνῃσι, wenn etwa Einer gestorben ist, Od. 4, 196, vgl. Hell. 2, 3, 51.
Selten steht ὅς in der indirecten Frage. Verbindungen, wie οὓς μὲν γὰρ ἐξέπεμψεν οἶδεν, Aesch. Ag. 422, Jeder kennt die, welche er aussandte, weiß, wen er aussandte, bilden hier die Grundlage, wie auch alle anderen Beispiele der Art aufzufassen sind, μαστεύειν δ' ὧν ἀνευρήσει φόνον, 1065; ἃ μὲν γὰρ ἐξείρηκεν, ἄγνοιά μ' ἔχει, Soph. Trach. 349, vgl. Rep. I, 327 c; πέμπει, εἰπὼν ὃς ἦν, Xen. Cyr. 6, 1, 46; Mem. 2, 6, 29; auch schon bei Her., γενομένης λέσχης ὃς γένοιτο αὐτέων ἄριστος, 9, 71, vgl. 6, 124.
ὅ findet sich statt der sonst üblichen Vbdg, τὸ γὰρ γέρας ἐστὶ ϑανόντων, des Metrums wegen ὃ γὰρ γ., Il. 23, 9 u. Od. 24, 190, welche Stellen schon von den alten Grammatikern ausdrücklich bemerkt wurden, womit lt. 12, 357, ὃ γάρ κ' ὄχ' ἄριστον ἁπάντων, zu vgl. Dieser Gebrauch hat sich bei ὅς u. ἥ auch in der Prosa erhalten, am häufigsten in der Vrbdg καὶ ὅς, und der, καὶ ὃς ἀμβώσας μέγα, ἀναϑρώσκει, Her. 7, 18; καὶ ὃς ἐπέσχε, Plat. Theag. 129 b; καὶ ὃς ἐξαπατηϑεὶς διώκει, Xen. Cyr. 5, 4, 4; u. καὶ ἥ, Plat. Conv. (Orell. p. 236) τῶν ἀγαϑῶν ἃ μὲν αὐτὰ ἐντὶ διὰ ταὐτὰ αἱρετά, οὐ μὰν δι' ἕτερον, ἃ δὲ δι' ἅτερον (vgl. ibd. p. 238) findet; in den Documenten in Dem. or. de corona einige Male im plur., Φίλιππος ἃς μὲν κατείληφε πόλεις, τινὰς δὲ πορϑεῖ, §. 164, vgl. τὰς μὲν) ἀναιρῶν, εἰς ἃς (nur 1 ms. hat noch dazu als Correctur τὰς) δὲ τοὺς φυγάδας κατάγων.
Von einzelnen Casus merke man 1) den gen., der sowohl vom Orte gebraucht wird (s. unten οὗ), als von der Zeit, ἐξ οὗ, seitdem, Il. 1, 6 Od. 2, 90. 8, 539 u. sonst, wie Soph. O. R. 1201 Trach. 38; ἀφ' οὗ γὰρ κεῖϑεν ἦλϑεν, O. R. 758; Ant. 558; auch allein, οὗ, als ἔστιν οὗ, zuweilen, dann u. wann, vgl. ἐν ᾡ, während, indem, Trach. 925. – 2) einen dat. ᾗ s. oben besonders. – 3) ὅ, acc. sing. neutr. für διό, διότι, vgl. die Beispiele unter c).
Phil. 659, wo wir übersetzen »denn du hast mir ja gegeben«; vgl. 1348. 1372 El. 899. – 2) ὅςπερ, welcher nämlich, doch, ja, qui quidem, οὐδὲ γὰρ οὐδὲ βίη Ἡρακλῆος φύγε Κῆρα, ὅςπερ φίλτατος ἔσκε Διΐ, Il. 18, 117, der doch dem Zeus der liebste war, vgl. ib. 363; so oft, bes. nach vorangegangenem οὐδέ, 16, 209 u. sonst; ἀλλ' οἵπερ πρότεροι ὑπὲρ ὅρκια δηλήσαντο, τῶν ἤτοι αὐτῶν τέρενα χρόα γῦπες ἔδονται, 4, 235, einen Grund, den jeder zugeben muß, angebend, da sie ja zuerst den Eid brachen, werden die Geier sie fressen; wenn auch diese Beziehung oft wenig hervortritt, so liegt doch immer ein innerer näherer Zusammenhang zwischen dem Relativsatze u. dem Hauptsatze darin, als in dem einfachen Relativum, χάρις δ' ἅπερ ἅπαντα τεύχει τὰ μείλιχα ϑνητοῖς, die ja den Sterblichen alles Erfreuliche bereitet, Pind. Ol. 1, 30; πᾶν ὅπερ προςχρῄζετε, πεύσεσϑε, Alles, was ihr nämlich wünscht, werdet ihr erfahren, Aesch. Prom. Phil. Prot. 322 a; ἀφ' οὗπερ, seitdem ja, Aesch. Pers. Ch. 213. – Hom. hat auch ὅπερ für das masc., ὅπερ σέο πολλὸν ἀμείνων, Il. 7, 114. 21, 107 u. sonst, wie Hes. Th. 864; – ὅςπερ οὖν, welcher auch immer, Sp. – Die Vrbdg ὁνδηποτοῦν verwirft Phryn., vgl. aber Lob. Phryn. 373, der Beispiele aus Sp. beibringt. öfter, u. bei den Tragg., μέμνησϑ' ἅτ' ἐγὼ προλέγω Aesch. Prom. El. 148. – Zuweilen liegt darin der Ausdruck einer gewissen Unbestimmtheit oder Allgemeinheit, ἔσϑιε νῦν, ὦ ξεῖνε, τάτε δμώεσσι πάρεστιν, Od. 14, 80, was sie freilich nur haben; Theocr. 22, 54, χαῖρε ξεῖνε, ὅςτ' ἐσσί, wer du auch sein magst, – Hom. hat im masc. ὅτε, Il. 16, 54, was besser mit der Diastole ὅ, τε zu schreiben. – Das adverbiale ἅτε s. oben besonders.
